Allegrini
Allegrini is one of the great family names of Valpolicella. Giovanni Allegrini first bottled wine from the family vines in the 1960s, and the family now farms 120 hectares in the heart of Valpolicella Classico.
Giovanni died in 1983. His three children, Walter, Marilisa and Franco, kept faith with the local Corvina grape at a time when many people were chasing international varieties. Franco also built the Terre di Fumane, a drying centre for grapes that changed how the whole region makes its dried-grape wines.
In 2023 a new generation took over: Franco's sons Francesco, Giovanni and Matteo, with their cousin Silvia. The range runs from a bright, cherry-fruited Valpolicella under screwcap to Amarone and a Recioto full of cherry fruit, plus a floral Lugana white made from Turbiana.
