Alpha Zeta

Alpha Zeta makes modern, fruit-forward wines from the hills outside Verona. It started in 1999, with Matt Thomson, the New Zealand winemaker behind Blank Canvas, making the wines.

Most wine from Verona at this price is bought in bulk. Alpha Zeta works straight with the growers instead. They keep yields low and pick later, so the grapes are properly ripe, and Matt's skill keeps that flavour in the bottle.

The range covers the local classics: dry, scented Soave, Pinot Grigio from hillside vines, Chardonnay, Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone. All of them are balanced, true to type and very good value.
