Antinori

The Antinori family have made wine in Tuscany since 1385. Twenty-seven generations later the business is still in family hands, which makes it one of the great names in Italian wine.

The family story goes back even further, to 1180, when they were in the silk trade. By the 16th century their wines were already travelling abroad, to France, Flanders, Spain and as far as North Africa. Buying a new estate in the mid-1800s kicked off a long run of growth, and they have kept adding vineyards ever since.

Today some wines come from one estate, while others, the Vin Santo among them, blend the best lots from several family vineyards. The family also own La Braccesca, Le Mortelle and Guado al Tasso, so the Antinori story carries on well beyond one cellar.
