Producer Piedmont, Italy

Bruno Rocca

Bruno Rocca took over his family's farm in Barbaresco when his father died in 1978. Before that he worked at Ferrero Rocher in Alba, because selling grapes could not keep more than one family going.

Once in charge, he began bottling the wine himself and soon made his name as one of the best producers in Barbaresco, helped by vines on one of its most famous hills. Today his daughter Luisa and son Francesco work alongside him on the 15-hectare estate, making around 65,000 bottles a year.

Bruno is a modernist. His wines have lots of fruit but keep the structure and grace of the Langhe. If you think Barbaresco is the lighter cousin of Barolo, his intense, balanced wines may change your mind. He also makes a rosé from Nebbiolo Rosé, a cousin of Nebbiolo, a Barbera d'Alba and a Langhe Nebbiolo.
