Buitenverwachting

Buitenverwachting means 'beyond expectation'. It is part of the historic Constantia estate. Back in 1685, the Governor, Simon van der Stel, put 750 hectares of vines in the ground there.

South African wine has had plenty of ups and downs since then. The old estate is still here, now split between five wineries. Buitenverwachting is owned by the Mueller family, who have restored its buildings and brought back its name for elegant wine.

Their Sauvignon Blanc is a classic mix of European restraint and New World fruit. The reds, made from Bordeaux grapes, are pure and ripe.
