Cantine Belisario

Cantine Belisario is a 300-hectare co-operative in the Marche, founded in 1971 in the Matelica area, where Verdicchio is the only grape allowed.

Winery at Matelica, Marche.

It also owns 24 hectares of organic vines, inland from Castelli di Jesi, where the climate is more continental. Warm days and cool nights stretch out the season, so picking can run late, into the second half of October, with plenty of aroma.

The range shows how much Verdicchio can do, from fresh, high-grown whites to a richer single-vineyard wine and a deep, textured Riserva. There are reds too: a full, ripe Rosso Conero from Montepulciano and a floral Lacrima di Morro d'Alba.
