Casa Mia
Casa Mia wines are made at Cantine Settesoli, near Menfi in south-west Sicily. Settesoli is a co-operative whose 2,000 members farm more than 5,000 hectares of vines.
Many of the members are mixed farmers who also keep livestock or grow other crops, including a local spiny artichoke protected by Slow Food. Better farming has brought the growers a better living, and that money goes back into the fruit. The white is Catarratto, full but fresh, helped by a long season near the sea. The red is an equal blend of Alicante and Syrah, with spice and ripe fruit.
