Castello d'Alba winemaker Rui Madeira learnt his trade around the world before coming home to the Douro, where he was born, to work with the region's native grapes.

The estate is in the upper Douro, on the left bank of the river, among the top vineyards used for the best vintage Ports. Old vines and high altitude give his wines balance, poise and a real sense of place.
