Cave de Hunawihr

Cave de Hunawihr is an Alsace co-operative founded in 1954 to help bring winemaking back to a region hit hard by the Second World War. Today it has 110 members growing the classic Alsace grapes.

Winery at Hunawihr, Alsace.

Together they farm over 200 hectares, mostly around Hunawihr, with the rest in nearby Riquewihr and Zellenberg. That includes 13 hectares in Grand Cru vineyards. All the vines are farmed sustainably.

The winemaking is simple: cool fermentation in steel tanks, with no oak at all. That gives fresh, dry, aromatic wines with good acidity, where each grape tastes like itself.
