Caves de Saumur

Caves de Saumur is a growers' co-operative on the top of the hill at Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, in the Saumur area of the Loire. It began in the 1950s, when around forty local growers decided to band together through hard times.

By the late 2000s it had around 300 members bringing in grapes from about 1,750 hectares. The cellar is set into roughly 10 km of galleries cut into the hillside under the vines.
