Château Larose Perganson

Château Larose Perganson is in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, between Pauillac and Saint-Julien, right beside the Château Latour vines. Winemaker Franck Bijon makes a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur here.

In the 1840s its wine sold for the same prices as the top estates. Then the château fell into disrepair, and it missed out on the 1855 classification. The owners of Château Larose Trintaudon bought it in 1986 and brought it back to life. In 2010 it became the first European vineyard rated exemplary for sustainable development.

There are 35 hectares of vines, about 35 years old, on free-draining gravel. Dense planting, at 10,000 vines per hectare, keeps yields low and flavours concentrated.
