Château Le Crock
In Saint-Estèphe, Château Le Crock holds Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status. It is squeezed between Château Montrose and Château Cos d'Estournel. The Cuvelier family have owned it since 1903.
The family also own Château Moulin Riche and Château Léoville Poyferré, and chief oenologist Isabelle Davin makes the wine at all three estates. There are 32 hectares of gravel over clay, planted with both Cabernets, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The vines average 40 years old and are farmed sustainably, with organic certification on the way.
Grapes are picked by hand and aged in French oak. The result is deep, with blackberry, plum, tobacco and dark chocolate, fine tannins and fresh acidity.
