Producer Bekaa Valley, Lebanon

Château Marsyas

Château Marsyas is the Saadé family's estate in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. Marsyas is the ancient name for the valley, and the family are also behind Bargylus in Syria.

The estate covers 55 hectares of high vineyard land, at 900 metres. The Saadés love the classic wine regions of France, so they brought in consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt to help show what the Bekaa can do. They planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah for the reds, with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites. The wines are stylish and classically built, French in spirit but with their own accent.
