Corino Giovanni
The Corino family came to La Morra in the 1950s as sharecroppers. In the 1980s Giuliano Corino took the reins from Giovanni, his grandfather. He stopped selling the grapes and began bottling his own Barolo.
The 1980s were a time of big change in Barolo, and Giuliano tried new things: rotary fermenters, shorter macerations and small barrels from France, about a third of them new. His style sits between old and new, with smooth tannins and well-judged oak.
Today Giuliano's family help him in the vineyard and cellar: his wife Stefania, his daughter Veronica and his son Andrea. They farm 9.5 hectares of prime Nebbiolo just below La Morra, with the winery in the hamlet of Annunziata.
