Curatolo Arini
Vito Curatolo Arini started the business in 1875, and his family's fifth generation runs it today. No other family-owned Marsala house still in business is older.
Winery at Marsala, Sicily.
Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini helps them keep the wines fresh while making the most of Sicily's rich, ripe fruit. They make dry whites from local grapes such as Zibibbo, Inzolia and Catarratto, and Nero d'Avola reds from vineyards at around 500 metres, where warm days and cool nights help.
The Marsalas are made the traditional way and are a great alternative to Sherry. The handsome label was designed by Ernesto Basile, a well-known Palermo architect of the late 19th century.
