Dievole
Dievole is a big estate of 600 hectares in Chianti Classico, with a long history. The name, first recorded in 1090, comes from 'Dio vuole', or 'God willing'.
Alejandro Bulgheroni bought it in 2012, and a team led by Stefano Capurso set about renewing the vineyards. There are now over 150 hectares of vines at 270 to 420 metres, certified organic since 2017 thanks to head agronomist Lorenzo Bernini. Sangiovese leads, followed by Canaiolo, Colorino and Trebbiano.
In the cellar, Luigi Temperini works with consultant Alberto Antonini. Every wine ferments in concrete tulips, and the oak is mostly large, untoasted French barrels. The Chianti Classico is fresh and lively, with lovely cherry fruit.
