Producer Tokaj, Hungary
Dobogó
Dobogó is a small family winery near the village of Mád, right in the middle of Tokaj, with five hectares of vines. Izabella Zwack owns it with winemaker Attila Domokos.
They want to make fresh, lively Tokaji, both sweet aszú and drier styles, while staying true to the region's long history. The vines are Furmint, Hárslevelű and Muscat Lunel on volcanic soils, farmed on biodynamic lines, with spur pruning to keep yields down. All their sites are classed as First Growth.
Their dry Furmint, with peach, pear and crisp acidity, is a great-value alternative to white Burgundy.
