Domaine Bressy-Masson

Domaine Bressy-Masson, in Rasteau, is a partnership between Paul Emile Masson, a fourth-generation grower, and Laurent Bréchet of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's Château de Vaudieu. Plenty of local experts rate its vineyards as the best in Rasteau.

The Masson family has farmed here since 1947, with over 20 hectares on south-facing slopes of limestone marl and clay. Grenache grows on blue marl near the domaine. Syrah and Mourvèdre grow on stony terraces, where round pebbles soak up the day's heat and pass it back to the vines at night.

Rhône consultant Philippe Cambie looks after the winemaking. Each grape is made on its own, then blended into a juicy red with smooth tannins, blackberry fruit and a hint of Provençal herbs.
