Domaine de Bel Air

Domaine de Bel Air is a 15-hectare family estate in Pouilly-Fumé, with vines facing south above Pouilly-sur-Loire and Saint-Andelain. Katia Mauroy-Gauliez makes the wine, and she and her brother Cédric are the family's eighth generation here.

The Mauroys have owned the place since the 19th century, and Katia's wines are well liked for their structure and generosity. She blends fruit from three sites: Kimmeridgian limestone for a mineral backbone, plus limestone, clay and sand for fruit and perfume.

The result is classic Sauvignon Blanc with a flinty edge and a hint of white currant. Some of the oldest vines sit high above the Loire and give a richer style.
