Domaine des Brosses

Domaine des Brosses dates from 1875 and lies 10 kilometres south of Sancerre. The Girard family took it over, with its 11 hectares of vines, in 1973 and brought it up to date.

Nicolas Girard, who runs it now, travelled widely to learn from the best Sauvignon Blanc makers. His six parcels sit on south-facing slopes around Veaugues, where the soils drain well. The wine rests on its lees for a few months for extra body, and shows white flowers, pear and apricot with lively acidity.

He also makes Quincy from sandy gravel near Brinay and Menetou-Salon from terres blanches clay, both with a rich, creamy feel.
