Domaine des Hauts Châssis

Franck Faugier came back to his family estate in Crozes-Hermitage in 1998, when it still sold through the local co-op. By 2003 he had taken it out of the co-op for good.

Twelve of his 17 hectares are on the much-prized Les Châssis land in the south of the appellation. These old river terraces are a mix of red clay, coarse sand and round pebbles, and the pebbles soak up heat, which suits Syrah perfectly.

Franck farms organically and uses some biodynamic methods too. He is after pure, supple, fruity wines that taste of their place.
