Domaine Laguilhon

Domaine Laguilhon belongs to grape grower Henri Estreboou. Its name comes from the French for a shepherd's crook, a nod to the hilltop where sheep once passed on their way to graze.

The 12 hectares of Gros and Petit Manseng are in Monein, a Jurançon village known for rich wines. The soils of small, round stones drain well in this wet corner of France, and the south-facing slopes let the grapes hang late for the sweet styles. Everything is picked by hand.

Expect a fresh, lively dry white with pear and green apple, and a luscious but balanced sweet wine with pineapple and honey. Both are great value.
