The Cotarella name is tied to some of Italy's finest wine. Riccardo Cotarella ranks among Italy's most respected winemaking consultants, and his brother Renzo has long been chief winemaker at Antinori.

In 1979 the brothers founded the Falesco winery in Lazio to bring forgotten local grapes back into the light. In 1999 they bought an estate in Umbria too.

In 2016 the next generation, sisters Dominga, Marta and Enrica, stepped up to run things. The same year they moved into Tuscany, taking on the lovely Le Macioche estate in Montalcino, home of Brunello.
