Fattoria Aldobrandesca

Fattoria Aldobrandesca is the Antinori estate near Sovana, a small hilltop town in the south of the Tuscan Maremma. It sits inland, right in the middle of the area people call the Etruscan tuff zone.

The vines grow on the slopes of the rocky spur that Sovana stands on, about 200 metres above the sea. The estate takes its name from the Aldobrandeschi family, who were handed the town by the Lombards.

Alongside Aleatico, a very old traditional grape, the estate has put its effort into Malbec, the French variety, which does well in these volcanic soils.
