Fattoria Mancini

You might not think of Italy for Pinot Noir. Yet the coast around Pesaro in northern Marche has grown it for some 200 years, and the Mancinis have looked after their Pinot here for five generations.

Clay-limestone soils and the cooling Adriatic make Pinot that can stand up to plenty outside Burgundy's top sites. They also make an intriguing white Pinot Noir.

The Italian grapes are good too: Sangiovese, plus two rare locals, Albanella and Ancellotta.
