Finca Villacreces

Finca Villacreces sits on Ribera del Duero's golden mile, right next to Vega Sicilia and Pingus. The Antón family of Izadi bought this beautiful estate in Quintanilla de Onésimo in 2003.

Winemakers Ángel Ortega and Luis Laso make deep, dark, focused reds. In the vineyard they use canopy work and natural treatments rather than chemicals. Sand, gravel, shingle and quartz keep yields tiny, about two kilos of grapes a vine.

The 64 hectares grow at 735 metres. Most is Tempranillo on sand, which gives a fleshy feel, with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on quartz and stones for extra minerality.
