Flichman

Few Argentine wineries are as old or as well known as Finca Flichman, in the south of Maipú in Mendoza. Don Sami Flichman, who came from Łódź in Poland, founded it in 1910 and planted the first vines on rocky, free-draining land in Barrancas.

In 1947 Isaac, his son, teamed up with winemaker Raúl de la Mota to make one of the first Argentine premium reds to win fans abroad. Sogrape bought the winery in 1998, restored the vineyards and updated the cellar. They also planted higher up in Tupungato, in the Uco Valley, where cool nights give more elegant wines.

Today Rogelio Rabino makes the wine, with help from Alberto Antonini and soil expert Pedro Parra. The range runs from fresh, young Malbec to richer, oak-aged reds.
