Fontarèche

Château Fontarèche is one of the oldest estates in the Languedoc. The Mignard family have held it since 1642, and today Jacques De Lamy is the owner. Vincent Dubernet, the winemaker, took over from his father, so he is the second of his family to make the wines here.

The 120 hectares of sustainably farmed vines are ringed by forest. They grow on an old limestone terrace covered in big pebbles, which drink up rain but do not hold it. Two kilometres of channels let them water the vines when allowed, so the grapes ripen fully.

Vincent is a fan of the rare Picpoul Noir grape, great for scented rosé. The reds are fragrant with soft tannins, and the whites are fresh and fruity.
