Franz Haas

The Haas family have been growing grapes for generations in Montagna, in Alto Adige. It was Franz who started making and bottling fine wine. He studied at Geisenheim in Germany and sold Italian wine in Germany before taking over the family business. Sadly he died in 2022.

Franz went to great lengths for top-quality grapes and kept their flavour intact in the cellar, so the wines are pure and balanced. In 2018 he moved all his wine to screwcap, one of the first Italian producers to do so.

His Pinot Nero is pale but packed with character. The whites include fresh Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and an aromatic blend.
