Producer Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Georges Duboeuf

In 1951, aged eighteen, Georges Duboeuf was cycling round local restaurants delivering wine. He came from a family of growers, and grew into one of the most influential names in French wine.

He set up his own négociant business in 1964, bottling wine from his own vines and from his neighbours' too. Often called the King of Beaujolais, he did more than anyone to raise the profile of the whole region.

Beaujolais is still the heart of it, but his skill at blending reached further, notably into the south of France. Across the range the wines share the same easy charm.
