Producer Piedmont, Italy

Giulia Negri

Giulia Negri makes wine at Serradenari, her family's estate high up in La Morra, in the Barolo country of Piedmont. Her great-great-grandfather bought the place back in the 1870s.

She was tasting her own first wines before she turned 20, and she has been in sole charge since 2014. Alongside 6.5 hectares of vines there are 12 hectares of woodland. The vineyards are farmed organically, between about 350 and 540 metres up, and Serradenari at the top is the highest vineyard anywhere in Barolo.

Height like that suits Nebbiolo well. As well as Barolo, she makes Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera.
