Goustine
Jeroen Verhaeghe and Anne De Sutter swapped careers in Belgium for wine. They moved to France in 2019, spent a year in the vines and cellars of Chinon, studied winemaking in Amboise, and fell for Chenin Blanc.
In 2022 they bought six hectares in Noizay, in the Vouvray appellation, and founded Goustine. The soils are limestone and flint layered with silt and clay, ideal for Chenin. Their vines are 20 to 80 years old and are going through organic conversion. The pair do all the vineyard work themselves until harvest, when they need a bigger team.
In the cellar they do as little as possible, using wild yeasts and very little sulphur. They also stop the malolactic fermentation to keep Chenin's natural, bright acidity.
