Producer Abruzzo, Italy

Il Faggio

Il Faggio comes from a top co-operative winery in northern Abruzzo, where New Zealand winemaker Alana McGettigan, of Lani, makes the wine. She aims to capture the power of the Montepulciano grape, but with a freshness you rarely find in this part of Italy.

The name means beech tree. You find beech woods all over this area, above all in the Abruzzo National Park. Their Montepulciano is soft and gentle, with a lovely chocolate and cherry finish.
