La Voûte

La Voûte is made by Thierry Delaunay in Touraine-Chenonceaux, a young Loire appellation created in 2011. The label shows the Château de Chenonceau, which famously stretches across the river Cher.

The rules here help shape a scented, distinctive style. The vines grow southeast of Tours on clay, flint, limestone and old sandy soils. White wines must be pure Sauvignon Blanc and can't be sold until the May after harvest, so they spend about seven months on their lees, gaining weight and texture.

The result is dry and zesty, lovely young but able to age a few years too.
