Luigi Baudana
Luigi Baudana is a tiny Barolo estate of a little over four hectares, all in Serralunga d'Alba. The little cellar is in the village of Baudana, and the wines have the power and structure Serralunga is known for.
After 30 years, with no heirs to take over, Luigi and Fiorina Baudana decided to sell. They had big offers, but they wanted the name and the estate to carry on as they were. Luigi even visited the G.D. Vajra winery without saying who he was, liked what he saw, and rang Aldo there to ask if he would buy.
The Vajra family have run the estate with Luigi and Fiorina ever since, still making the wines in the original cellar. The deep flavour from the vineyards is still there, and the Vajras' work in the cellar has lifted the wines further.
