Luke Lambert

Luke Lambert makes wine in the Yarra Valley, in Victoria, and is much loved for his Nebbiolo from a single vineyard. He fell for the grape while travelling around Europe after school, in the late 1990s.

Back home, he studied winemaking and got a job at Coldstream Hills. He started making his own wine in his garage before dawn, and released his first in 2005. His grapes come from Denton View Hill, a steep site near Yarra Glen, on granite and sandy soils, farmed without herbicides.

In the winery he keeps things simple: wild yeasts, no temperature control, old oak casks and no fining or filtering. He also makes a Chardonnay with a fresh, mineral edge.
