Maculan

For most people outside the area, Maculan is Breganze. The vineyards here run from the foothills of the Alps towards the Roman town of Vicenza, in the Veneto, and Fausto Maculan works hard to get real character from every grape.

He grows local grapes such as Vespaiola, the grape behind the estate's famous sweet wines, as well as international varieties he brought in and planted himself. The sweet wines are what Maculan is best known for abroad. But the dry whites and reds are well worth a look too, fresh and lively, with their own take on the Veneto style.
