Mont du Toit
Mont du Toit is a family estate in Wellington, in South Africa's Western Cape. It was created by Stephan du Toit's French Huguenot ancestors when they arrived more than 300 years ago.
Stephan is a well-respected lawyer, and has also run the estate since 1996. It is warm here, but breezes from the nearby Hawequa Mountain cool things down, which suits red grapes well. A team of local workers, trained by Stephan, tend the vines by hand and keep yields low.
The wines take their lead from Bordeaux, and the blend changes each year with the weather.
