Pedro Parra

Pedro Parra is a soil scientist first. He studied precision agriculture and terroir in Paris, up to PhD level, and has spent around 20 years digging soil pits and mapping vineyards for wineries across the Americas and Europe.

In 2013 he started his own label in Chile with his old friend and business partner, the consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini. The idea was simple: pure wines from old bush vines on granite in Itata, and a helping hand for the local growers who have looked after these vines for generations.

Itata sits about 500 km south of Santiago, cooled by Pacific breezes. Many vines are over 100 years old, never irrigated and picked by hand. Strong winds keep disease away, so Pedro can farm organically. Expect characterful País and Cinsault. He loves jazz, too, and names several wines after jazz greats.
