Pine Ridge Vineyards

Pine Ridge began in 1978, when Gary Andrus planted his first vineyard on a terraced hillside in Stags Leap, Napa Valley, with a ridge of pine trees alongside.

The estate now covers 80 hectares, with vineyards in five parts of Napa: Stags Leap, Rutherford, Carneros, Howell Mountain and Oakville. That spread gives winemaker Josh Widaman, here since 2020, lots of choice when blending. The vines are farmed sustainably to get the most character out of each site.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the star, and Josh has moved the oak towards more French barrels. There is also a fresh, aromatic Chenin Blanc and Viognier blend from Clarksburg, in the Sacramento River Delta, where a steady breeze keeps the grapes fresh.
