Pulenta Estate

Brothers Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta, the fourth generation of a Mendoza winemaking family, set up Pulenta Estate in 2002. They wanted a modern winery making small amounts of top wine, carrying on their father's pioneering spirit.

There are two vineyards. One is Finca La Zulema, over in Agrelo. The other, Viñedos Don Antonio, lies in Los Árboles in the Uco Valley. Different heights and alluvial soils give each its own character, and blending them shapes the house style. The young Bodega La Flor wines get three months in oak. The estate reds get a year in new French oak and another year in bottle.

Expect silky, elegant wines that still have the power and depth Argentina is known for. Solar panels provide over half the winery's power, grey water is recycled, and the vines drink Andean snowmelt.
