Ress Family Wineries

The Ress family of Hattenheim, in Germany's Rheingau, have worked in food, wine trading and grape growing since 1870. That year Balthasar Ress opened his Hotel Ress, with a few wines carrying his own name on the list.

After the Great War the restaurant side grew into a busy wine merchant. In the 1920s his son Carl started the family's own wine estate, and in the 1950s he and his nephew Paul built up the trading side. Today Paul's son Stefan and grandson Christian look after it, under the name Ress Family Wineries.
