Seghesio

Seghesio has been part of Sonoma County wine for well over a century. Edoardo Seghesio, who came from Italy, put in his first Zinfandel vines in 1895 in what is now the Home Ranch vineyard in Alexander Valley. He and his wife Angela kept growing grapes through Prohibition.

Cousins Pete and Ted Seghesio made the name for Zinfandel in the 1980s. Crimson Wine Group, which also owns Pine Ridge, has owned it since 2011, but family roots run deep. Ted's nephew Ned Neumiller runs the vineyards and has brought in regenerative farming: no pesticides or weedkillers, compost teas and cover crops. There are 120 hectares across Sonoma, including Dry Creek and Alexander Valley.

Head winemaker Andy Robinson worked beside Ted for almost 20 years. Consultant Alberto Antonini has helped shape the juicy, easy Zinfandel style.
