Tenuta J. Hofstätter

Tenuta J. Hofstätter has fifty hectares of vines, making it one of the largest private estates in Alto Adige, yet quality stays high. Joseph Hofstätter founded it in 1907, and his descendant Martin Foradori Hofstätter, the fourth generation, runs it today with great care.

The vineyards sit at 250 to 800 metres, unusually on both banks of the Adige river. The estate has the region's largest plantings of Gewürztraminer and Pinot Nero and is best known for them, but Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and a new Sauvignon Blanc get the same attention. Martin's father planted one Pinot Nero vineyard in the 1950s when the neighbours thought he was mad. Today it is the jewel of the estate.
