Tenuta Meraviglia

Tenuta Meraviglia has 30 hectares of organic vines at the southern tip of Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. The vines sit on a plateau at 150 metres, ringed by woods, with views across the sea to the Tuscan islands and Corsica.

The soils are volcanic and full of rhyolite, a stone once widely used for building. An old quarry below, now hidden by forest, is planned as the site of a new winery. Alejandro Bulgheroni bought the estate in 2016, and the team behind his Dievole estate in Chianti runs it: Lorenzo Bernini in the vines and cellar, with consultant Alberto Antonini.

Cabernet Franc is the main grape. Wild yeasts, cement tanks and large untoasted French oak make this unusual for Bolgheri, where small new barrels are the norm.
