Torre di Terzolan
Torre di Terzolan is a small estate high in the Val Squaranto, part of Valpolicella near Verona. The main house began life as a hunting lodge for the Scaligeri, who ruled Verona in the 13th and 14th centuries. Later it became known for its wine and olive oil.
Roberta Previti took it on in the 1990s. She brought its three hectares of vines and more than 2,000 olive trees back to life and started making wine again in 2015. She works with local winemaker Lorenzo Caramazza.
The organic vines of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grow on chalky soils at 350 metres, among meadows, fruit trees and old woods. The old Renaissance cellar has been restored, and grapes for the richer styles are dried in a vaulted tunnel under the farmhouse. Some wines are aged partly in amphorae.
