Valdespino
Valdespino is among the oldest Sherry houses in Jerez, and its story spans six centuries. It is named after Alfonso Valdespino, a knight who was given land here in 1264 after fighting for the city alongside King Alfonso X.
Unusually for the region, the bodega owns 750 hectares of its own vines, so it can keep a close eye on the grapes. The Estevez family have owned it since 1999.
Valdespino is one of very few houses making Sherry from single vineyards, and it is known for very old Sherries aged for 20 or even 30 years or more. Alongside Fino, Oloroso and Palo Cortado, it also makes vermouth and aperitifs from old recipes, a still white from Palomino, a brandy and a rum.
