Vigne Marina Coppi
Francesco Bellocchio and his wife Anna started Vigne Marina Coppi in 2003. They took on a few vines in Castellania, a small village in southeast Piedmont. It is a special place for Francesco. His grandfather, the great cyclist Fausto Coppi, was born here.
Winery at Castellania, Piedmont.
The estate is named after Francesco's mother, Marina. They grow local grapes: Timorasso, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Croatina, Freisa and Favorita. Timorasso is their pride and joy, made in a modern way in steel but still rich, long and mineral.
Across the range the wines are lively and clear, with a lightness of touch. The Barbera is bright and pure, and the Favorita gains texture from time on its lees.
