Vigneti del Salento

Vigneti del Salento belongs to the Fantini group, set up by Valentino Sciotti in 1994. The wines are made at two wineries near Taranto, on the western side of the Salento in Puglia.

Resident winemaker Danilo Gizzi works with consultant Filippo Baccalaro. Filippo comes from Piedmont but has worked in Puglia for close to 20 years, drawn by the ripe, rich flavour of its grapes. He likes to keep technology to a minimum and let know-how do the work.

The whites are crisp and fresh. The reds are soft and generous, with Primitivo from old bush vines leading the way.
