Vigneti Zabù

Vigneti Zabù is in southern Sicily and belongs to the Fantini group, which Valentino Sciotti set up in 1994. In 2005 Valentino and winemaker Giuseppe Alfano Burruano, a Sicilian, planted vines on the hills around Lake Arancio, near Sambuca di Sicilia.

It is wild, unspoilt country with plenty of old vineyards, and the lake helps keep the climate kind to vines. They grow at 400 metres on clay that holds water through the hot Sicilian summer.

The wines are attractive and easy to drink: a fresh Grillo, a cherry-scented Nero d'Avola, including an organic one, and a supple, fragrant Nerello Mascalese.
